The Dallas Summer Boat Show is produced and owned by Show Management Professionals, Ltd, a subsidiary of Dallas Boat Show, Inc. Dallas Boat Show, Inc. was established in 1973. The original articles of incorporation were filed with the Secretary of the State of Texas on April 11, 1973. In 2003 a general partnership was created to give the corporation flexibility in an effort to pursue other ventures. The partnership, known as Show Management Professionals, Ltd., is the operational arm of the corporation in regards to production and management of consumer shows. Originally produced as the Southwest Boat and Recreation Show in 1955, the “boat” section of the show branched away, under the influence of 33 local dealers in 1973. These 33 original dealers pooled their monies, in equal amounts to purchase the “boat” portion of the show and move it to Dallas Market Hall. The current show has operated annually in that location since. A second endeavor, known publicly as the Dallas Summer Boat Show was started in 1989 and has been held each year at Dallas Market Hall since that date. In 2008 the corporation, operating under the partnership of Show Management Professionals, Ltd. purchased the Texas Fishing, Hunting and Outdoors Show, held annually at the Arlington Convention Center.
